Basics of Dental Bridges
- Posted on: Apr 15 2019
One of the most basic treatments that we offer our patients here at Dr. Lenny Slepchik’s office is a dental bridge. Dental bridges are designed to help patients bridge the gap between a missing tooth or several missing teeth. As a single piece prosthetic, a dental bridge has two crowns that serve as anchors; these crowns can either be placed on top of consisting teeth. To help you learn a little bit more about dental bridges, let’s take a closer look at a few of the basics.
When Do You Need a Dental Bridge?
If you have a missing tooth, you may assume that it’s optional for you to replace it. It’s not. Although you always have the choice, if you leave that gap there, it can cause a variety of problems including shifting teeth and an eroded jaw bone underneath the gap in your teeth. To help prevent either of these things from happening and to ensure that you always look and feel like your best self, dental bridges are a must.
Why Get a Dental Bridge?
The last thing that you want is for your teeth so start shifting because you have one or more missing teeth, but there are other reasons as well as to why you may want a dental bridge including that the bridge will:
- Complete your smile
- Prevent tooth movement
- Restore chewing and biting in the area
- Distribute your bite across various teeth
- Restore diction
- Maintain jawbone health
If you have a missing tooth, the best thing that you can do is come into our office for a consultation. During your consultation, we will take a closer look at your mouth and help determine what is the best option for you.
