Snacks for a Healthier Smile

You are what you eat, and your teeth are no exception. If you eat a diet full of fattening sugary foods, your mouth may be full of cavities.  Consider making some healthier changes to improve your smile by changing how you snack. Let’s take a closer look at three different snacks that can give you a healthier smile and a thinner waistline.

Hard-Boiled Eggs

Hard-boiled eggs are a healthy choice for snacking on throughout the day. As a high protein food, hard-boiled eggs are also full of vitamins and nutrients that are great at strengthening your teeth and making them healthier. Try boiling a dozen eggs at the beginning of the week and then put them into small containers to take with you to work in the morning.

Nuts and Seeds

Raw nuts and seeds are another snack that are high in protein, and that’s great for your smile overall.  Not only are they a great way to get your allotted protein in for the day, but they are also ideal for strengthening your teeth because they contain critical vitamins and minerals like calcium.

Apples and Carrots

No snacks are quite as crunchy as apples and carrots. Both apples and carrots are an ideal snack to eat mid-day because they contain a lot of fiber. Fibrous fruits and vegetables tend to have a hard texture, which makes them perfect for naturally scrubbing your teeth and getting rid of excess plaque and sugar on them. Plus, since they are low in calories and high in vitamins, they make another healthy snack for your body as well.
