3 Signs That You Need a New Filling
- Posted on: Jun 30 2019
Having a missing filling is something that can be obvious to some people and not so apparent to others. With the average composite filing lasting about 10-15 years if you are coming up on that time frame, then you may be wondering when you’re going to need to have yours replaced. The good news is that some filings last longer than 15 years and you will only need to have it replaced if you run into any of the following three problems. Ready to learn some more?
Your Tooth Hurts
Having a pain in your neck when your mother in law around is normal, but having a pain in your tooth isn’t quite so normal— especially if it’s a tooth that has a feeling in it. If the pain doesn’t go away after about a day or if it seems to get worse, then it may be a sign that you need to get a new filling placed.
You Have a Spot on Your Tooth
The easiest way for you to tell if you have a missing filling is to look at your tooth and see if you see a hole or a spot on it. When a filling falls off, it will show the original cavity which is sometimes easy to see. If you do notice that you have a spot on it and it’s been feeling a little uncomfortable, then it’s time to schedule an appointment.
Now that summer is here; ice cream may be your main food group, but if you experience tooth sensitivity when you bite into ice cream (especially sensitivity around the infected tooth) then that’s also an indicator that you need to have a filling placed on it.
