How can I tell if I would benefit from orthodontic treatment?

There are many factors that are taken into consideration when it comes to achieving a beautiful smile. Dr. Lenny Slepchik and his team work routinely with patients to help them improve the appearance and health of the teeth and gums for more confidence.  Patients will often approach him and ask  “Would I benefit from getting braces?”

What age should I get braces?

When we think of orthodontic treatment, we often picture older children and teenagers with a smile of metal brackets and wires. However, now patients of any age can straighten their smile, and do so in a much more discreet manner.  Patients can use Invisalign aligners to get the changes they need in the look and health of their smile. It allows patients of all ages to improve their smile.  This method eliminates the need for metal brackets and wires. Instead, it uses clear aligner trays that patients wear for 20 hours a day to gradually reposition their teeth. These trays are not  noticeable when patients wear them, making Invisalign the “clear” choice for patients who might be otherwise hesitant about receiving orthodontic treatment.

How do I know if I need orthodontic work?

If you have issues such as poor bite alignment, spaces between teeth, or a crooked dental arch, you may need orthodontic treatment to reposition the smile. There are some instances in which patients might be able to disguise imperfections. For example, a gap between the teeth in the front of the smile can be closed with coverage from porcelain veneers or composite resin bonding. By having alternative options, patients can choose what works best for both their budget and their lifestyle. Patients can also ask us during an evaluation if they are a good candidate for Invisalign orthodontics.
